Eminem’s "Recovery" tops 2010 album sales list

Eminem is the first artist to register two top-selling albums of the year since the inception of Nielsen SoundScan in 1991. With "Recovery" selling 3.4 million copies in 2010, it outdistanced Lady Antebellum's "Need You Know," which came in second with 3.09 million sold. His "The Eminem Show" sold 7.6 million copies in 2002.

Eminem was also king of the digital arena, selling 15.5 million tracks. That tally tops the 15.2 million Lady Gaga tracks sold in 2009. ...continued

Grace Potter & the Nocturnals roll out plans for winter road trip

Vermont folk-rock outfit Grace Potter & the Nocturnals has mapped out an extensive U.S. club tour in continued support of last year's eponymous album.

The New Year brings a two-month trek for the five-piece band, beginning with a Jan. 13 performance in Covington, KY. The 37-stop road trip reaches from one coast to the other before wrapping up with a March 25 gig in Boston. ...continued

Erin McKeown, Carrie Rodriguez sign on to Acoustic Cafe run

Singer/songwriters Erin McKeown and Carrie Rodriguez will head up the second annual "Acoustic Cafe Tour" this winter, with Nashville songstress Mary Gauthier joining in for half the gigs.

Based on the established weekly radio program of the same name, the Acoustic Cafe outing will get underway Feb. 13 in Chicago and continue with nine gigs over 10 days' time. The first five shows will feature Gauthier in the lineup. The full run, which concludes Feb. 23 in Dallas, is shown at right. ...continued
