Home cinema racks that incorporate speakers are few and far between, but this new model from Sharp not only offers built-in audio, but is the first to the market to come fitted with an upscaling DVD player. The attractively titled ANPR1500H accommodates up to a 46" screen and boasts 300W of power through the 2.1 front surround speakers. You'll find HDMI output for the best image and sound quality and there's support here for digital formats like DivX, MP3 and WMA. These can presumably be viewed either by burning them to disc or by connecting external storage to the USB-host on board. Elsewhere there's an FM digital tuner and clock/timer so it certainly appears to cover all bases when it comes to modern A/V options and provided these work well could eliminate quiet a few extra boxes around your TV. It's available now from major outlets and independent retailers in the UK, and comes with a suggested retail price of £599, which considering what you're getting isn't half bad. - Paul Lester [Sharp] Sharp home cinema TV table

'Slim' seems to be the new black for LCD screens at the moment, with Asus beating BenQ for the title of 'world's slimmest' with its new 22" widescreen display. It's just 45mm thick and is pretty stylish with a circular stand and thin bezel; though we're not sure we like the chunky trim the logo is set on. There are plenty of fancy words in the official press release to try and wow consumers, including diamond-cut corners, a diamond-cut glass surface and light-in-motion II dynamic lighting effects. The latter sounds interesting and works by shining LEDs built into the base up at the main screen to add ambience and a bit of dynamism. You'll find an HDMI input, lightning quick 2ms response time and up to 4000:1 contrast using Asus' Smart Contrast control. Multimedia fans will be pleased to hear that it supports a range of aspect ratios for establishing full-screen playback along with some sort of video intelligence technology which is supposed to correct and adjust an image to optimise quality. It certainly seems powerful and versatile enough to suite a wide range of applications and we're actually quite keen to see this one in action, though it's not exactly cheap at a suggested retail price of £270. - Paul Lester [Asus] asus LCD monitor

Those of you who kept a sharp eye on January's CES show may remember Belkin's wireless HDMI box, which was subsequently delayed but has recently been confirmed for US launch. With the number of HDMI compatible devices on the rise and the fact that if you have it, you'll definitely want to use it over any other connection, even modern TVs with three ports are likely to struggle. The box sends uncompressed HDMI audio and video to your TV using the 5GHz wireless band and the supplied receiver unit. It has three HDMI inputs, two component and one composite for you to wire all your set-top boxes and consoles up neatly, and can automatically switch between them depending on which is active. This is among the first of its type so almost inevitably it's pretty expensive. You're looking at around $700 (about £350) for a single room or $1000 (about £500) for the multi-room model. Yikes. It'll finally hit the stores in October in America though sadly there's no confirmed release date for the UK. Regardless we think it's a great idea and wouldn't be surprised to see a range of similar products arriving this year, though hopefully they'll be more competitively priced. - Paul Lester [RegHardware] HDMI wireless HDTV<img width='1' height='1' src='

Big monitor buffs can start saving now as ViewSonic has just added a 26in Full HD display to its line-up. The monitor specialist has just announced the VA2626wm LCD monitor - in the US first - as part of its 'Value' series with a price tag of around £250. Apart from all that acreage of screen just two feet from your face, the 26in display boasts pretty much all you'd need. This is a 16:10 display capable of 1080p playback thanks to a native 1920 x 1200 pixel resolution. For a native Full HD display [16:9 to reduce those big black lines in video playback] see the new BenQ E2200HD, a 21.5in, 16:9 ratio Full HD LCD. The ViewSonic offering comes with HDMI, VGA and DVI with HDCP connections for hooking to your budding number of HD sources (PS3, Blu-ray player, HD channels etc.]. Video response time is a respectable, but not earth shattering, 5ms and there's some weenie 2.5W speakers that you can remove if they ruin the look.-Martin Lynch news monitor PC

Yamaha is on a roll with its one-speaker surround systems, today launching a new model to its already impressive line-up. Just a few months after the arrival of the YSP-600, we have the YSP-3050 which beefs up the video capabilities as well as the sound. Inside the chassis are 21 beam drivers, a couple of subwoofers and 23 digital amplifiers, all designed to fire 83Watts of sound around the room to create a surround sound field without the usual 5 or 7 speaker set-up and associated cable spaghetti. That said, you're still getting pseudo-surround here and while the YSP series have proved to be very impressive they will not match the performance of a half-decent dedicated surround sound system. The new YSP-3050 comes with two 1080p capable HDMI slots (and 1 Out), analog-to-video upscaling and HD upscaling up to 1080i. There are composite and component video hook ups to so that you can connect a variety of DVD and gaming devices to the speaker and have it connected via a single HDMI cable to your TV. It also features integrated FM radio and is iPod compatible. The one downside to this neat solution for stylish living room surround is the price tag of around £650 [US pricing so even higher here].-Martin Lynch [Yamaha] audio movies speaker home cinema
