Pentax Optio V20 Camera Catches You Blinking

pentax optio v20.jpg I like how compact cameras are getting more feature-rich and the latest Pentax Optio V20 crams a lot into its little chassis.

The V20 is an impressive 8MP compact, with 5x optical zoom and sporting a generous 3in display with an anti-reflective coating and a 170 degree viewing angle. The three key features on this successor to the V10 are Face Recognition, Smile and Blink Capture and Digital Shake Reduction. Considering people in my photos tend to come out with their eyes closed and wearing painful grimaces, I can appreciate who these features are aimed at.

The Facial Recognition comes with auto focus and auto exposure functions so that the camera automatically detects and focuses on faces, while picking the best exposure setting. A Smile Capture function recognises smiles and releases the shutter automatically while Blink Detection lets you know if those pesky family members blinked, to allow you a chance to shoot the shot again. The Digital Shake Reduction mode compensates for your shaky hands.

Other functions include an Auto-Macro mode for shooting things as close as 4in, a panorama mode for linking multiple shots into one, and movie recording with shake reduction.
