Aussies Claim World’s Smallest Commercial Projector [This Week Anyway]
The market for tiny - or pico - projectors is really starting to buzz and the next few months will see the arrival of truly miniature but, feature-rich, devices. Down under, Mint Wireless is touting that it will introduce the world's smallest commercial projector next month with the unveiling of the Mint V10. Built with the help of Taiwanese partner, Aiptek, the Mint V10 - apart from looking pretty sweet - measures just 12.5 x 5.5 x 2.3cm [1cm longer than the iPhone] and can crank out a 50in image from a distance of just 6ft away. We saw this crop up under Aiptek's PocketCinema V10 name in June, but there was no price or delivery date. Now there is.The image quality is 640 x 480 and the LED lamp used, which doesn't need any warming up like traditional projector lamps, has a claimed life of 20,000 hours which is hugely impressive. Put it this way, assuming it was used for an average of 4-hours a day [which is a lot], the V10 would last just over 13 years. Alex Teoh, CEO, Mint Wireless commented: "The V10 pocket projector has achieved significant interest amongst some of Australia's largest retailers and we are discussing commercial arrangements with retailers now. We expect sales of the pocket projector to be high, particularly as we approach the Christmas period. There is nothing like the pocket projector on the market today - it is a true hybrid product that can be used for both business and leisure. Given the success of devices such as the iPhone, we expect the projector will fit well into this market." It will go on sale next month, priced at around £307.-Martin Lynch projector movies news
